This piece represents the heartbreak of divorce: the kind of heartbreak that does not simply bruise the heart, but fractures your sense of home, identity, and the future you thought you were building.

At the center is a broken red heart, cracked and mended with gold, inspired by kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken things with gold so that the fractures become part of the beauty rather than something to hide. In that way, the gold speaks to healing. Not the kind that erases what happened, but the kind that honors the break and rebuilds anyway.

The black drips represent grief, anger, loss, and the pain that cannot be tied up neatly. The deep blue and purple background reflects the sadness, confusion, and darkness that often surround the end of a marriage, while the gold splatter suggests that even in devastation, there are still flashes of strength, light, and becoming.
